Both come with alcohol swabs and syringes, and the dry vial also with bacteriostatic water. The choice between reconstituted and dry exists only for vials.

The pen is a disposable injector, always reconstituted and filled from a vial of the same batch. There is nothing to mix or draw: you attach a needle, set the dose and inject. It costs Rp 650.000 more than the vial and comes with swabs and pen needles.

Heat and light are what break peptides down. A reconstituted vial or a pen belongs in the fridge at 2 to 8°C, on a shelf rather than in the door, and never in the freezer. Out of the fridge it should spend minutes, not hours: inject, cap it and put it back.

A dry vial is more forgiving, which is one reason to choose it if you travel around the islands or are not starting straight away. Keep it cool and dark, and mix it only when you are ready to begin. For a trip to Nusa Penida or the Gilis, a small insulated pouch with an ice pack is enough for a day.

A parcel from overseas spends one to three weeks in transit and can be held at customs, often in a warehouse at tropical temperatures, and some never arrive. A local order reaches you the same day, so the vial spends hours on the road, not weeks.
