Selank is a synthetic analogue of tuftsin, a natural immune peptide, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow. In 2009 it was registered in Russia as an anti-anxiety medicine, notable for working without the sedation typical of classic tranquillisers. Supplied as a 10 mg nasal spray.

Overview
Selank is a seven-amino-acid peptide from the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow: tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), a natural immune peptide, extended with the same stabilising Pro-Gly-Pro tail used in Semax. It was designed to keep the calming and immune-balancing activity of tuftsin while lasting long enough to act.In clinical studies in Russia, Selank was compared with the benzodiazepine medazepam in people with generalised anxiety and showed a comparable anti-anxiety effect without drowsiness. Research also links it to serotonin, dopamine and enkephalin signalling and to BDNF, which is why it is studied for mood, stress resilience and focus.In 2009 Selank was registered in Russia as an anti-anxiety medicine.
